The Kolokun goat chasing competition holds a strong significance in the Asun carnival that takes place every year, because asun is made from goat meat, and according to the visionary behind this grand event, Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, goats are not only for consumption but can also serve as a source of entertainment,an idea brought to life through the Kolokun goat competition.

Let me take you back to how it all began, before the thousands seated at the Ondo Ekimogun Sports Stadium, eager to witness the thrilling spectacle of three goats released to be chased by different teams, divided into sessions on May 2nd, 2026.
The male team opened the dramatic session, and the goat, in its full glory, ran like wildfire as the entire team sprang into motion, racing after it with the intensity of a driven engine.
Taking another turn was the female session, and this time, the tension in the air was unmistakable, you had to be ready.

The goat swerved sharply, twisting and turning, and at one point ran completely out of the field, dragging the entire team along as they chased it beyond the stage they had started from.

But in the midst of the chaos, the ever confident eighteen year old rose to the moment, capturing the goat despite how far and relentlessly it had run.
The children’s session followed with equal intensity, another burst of energy as a determined goat led a full team on a relentless chase.
The winners were:
Akinnifesi Temidayo (Male category – won a goat)
Precious Ngozi (Female category – won a goat)
The young male category was nullified.
