Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has finally revealed the face of her daughter, Yakira Eliana, 12 months after welcoming the child and keeping her face away from the public.
Makinwa disclosed Yakira’s face on Friday, August 7th 2026, as the little girl celebrates her first birthday, giving the public its first full look at the child she has carefully kept away from the spotlight since her birth.
Yakira was born on August 28, 2025, after Makinwa announced her pregnancy earlier that month. The media personality had disclosed her baby bump on August 13, describing the pregnancy as “the biggest project of my life” and “the highest calling ever.”
When she announced Yakira’s arrival two weeks later, Makinwa described becoming a mother as the happiest moment of her life and called her daughter a miracle and an answered prayer. She gave her full name as Yakira Eliana Olakitan Iyanuoluwa Ikeoluwa Adunola.
Makinwa’s pregnancy became a subject of intense public discussion, particularly around the circumstances of her motherhood and the absence of a publicly identified father.
The conversation later moved into a religious debate after social commentator Solomon Buchi questioned her decision to connect the pregnancy to God, arguing that having a child outside marriage should not be spiritualised. His comments sparked further reactions online.
Despite the attention, Makinwa maintained her decision to keep Yakira’s identity largely private for her first year, occasionally giving followers glimpses of the child without revealing her face.
In her birthday post announcing the face reveal, Makinwa described Yakira as “the best part of my story” and said she was finally allowing the world to meet her.
Calling her daughter her “precious answered prayer,” “greatest love” and “greatest blessing,” Makinwa wrote that after one whole year of Yakira, she was sharing “a little piece of my heaven with the world.”
The media personality also centred the message on her faith, writing, “God can be trusted, God is real,” before drawing a connection between her experience and the biblical story of Hagar.
Makinwa said she could testify that she had met “El-Roi,” referring to the biblical name for God meaning “the God who sees me.”
She ended the emotional birthday tribute with several affectionate names for her daughter, including “YaYa,” “Ya Pom Pom” and “Ya mama,” before playfully telling her followers: “Guys, meet your niece. I cooked ohhhhhh. She is beautiful.”
