La Campagne Tropicana Forest, River and Beach Resort has been honoured with the Eco-Tourism Excellence and Cultural Heritage Development Award at the 2026 National Tourism Transportation Summit and Expo held in Abuja.
The award was presented at the summit’s gala dinner organised by the Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in recognition of organisations and individuals whose contributions have advanced tourism, hospitality and transportation development in the country.
President of the Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, stated that the awards were instituted to celebrate excellence, especially awardees making significant impacts on Nigeria’s tourism industry.
According to the organisers, La Campagne Tropicana received the award in recognition of its more than 40 years of pioneering eco-tourism, preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism development.
Founded by tourism entrepreneur, Otunba Dr. Olawanle Akinboboye, the Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos-based resort has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading eco-tourism destinations, combining indigenous culture with nature-based hospitality experiences.
Other awardees included Zenith Bank, which won the Outstanding Tourism Infrastructural Support Award, Air Peace, honoured with the Nigerian Airline Leadership and Expansion Award, Abuja Continental Hotel, which received the Luxury Hospitality Leadership Award, Aero Contractors for Excellence in Aviation, the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Leadership and Partnership, Vento Furnitures and the Lekki Conservation Centre.
In the individual category, the Director of Finance and Accounts, FCT Transportation Secretariat, Mrs. Christy Shehu, received the Outstanding Leadership in Improving Transportation Systems in the FCT Award. Also honoured were the Acting Deputy Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Bento Chukwuemeka, and the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Adebopa Oyekan.
