Popular tourism icon and Founder of La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, has been honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Tourism at the 2026 Lagos Enterprise and Excellence Awards, in recognition of his more than four decades of pioneering contributions to Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry.
The prestigious ceremony, held on Tuesday, June 30th 2026, at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, brought together distinguished personalities from the public and private sectors, including entrepreneurs and notable professionals to celebrate outstanding achievements across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The colourful gala night commenced at approximately 6:30 p.m. with guests arriving in grand outfits before the formal presentation of awards recognising excellence in enterprise, leadership, innovation, healthcare, media, hospitality, tourism, security, real estate and public service.
Veteran Nigerian actress Joke Silva was equally celebrated during the ceremony, receiving the Lifetime Achievement and Creative Excellence Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry.
Speaking during the event, the President of the Nigerian Achievers Awards Institute, Chief Executive Officer of Global Africa Investment Limited and Convener of the Opportunity Lagos Conference, Prince Afolabi Andu, welcomed guests and described the award recipients as accomplished entrepreneurs and globally respected professionals whose contributions continue to elevate Nigeria’s image internationally.
According to him, the recipients have become ambassadors of the Nigerian brand through their achievements and should continue to inspire excellence while projecting the country’s positive image on the global stage.
Awards were presented across ten major categories covering arts, culture and creative industries, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, media and communications, entrepreneurship, real estate and urban development, security, public service, community development and special recognition.
Among the notable recipients, Chief Chike Ogeah, Managing Director of Macfolly Hospitality Limited, received the Special Recognition Award for Hospitality Leadership.
Iwosan Healthcare was honoured with the Healthcare Innovation and Inspiration Award, while Diamed Diagnostic Centre received the Diagnostic Healthcare Institution of the Year Award.
Dr. Adetoroba Omotoye, Chief Executive Officer of Propstone Development Limited, was recognised with the Security and Resilient Leadership Award as well as the Transformational Developer of the Year Award.
Lekki Worldwide Investment Company received the Urban Development Leadership Award, while the Public Service Award was presented to the Executive Chairman of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
Afretrade was honoured with the Enterprise Development and Global Trade Impact Award, while Channels Television emerged as one of the evening’s biggest winners after receiving the Media Leadership Award 2026 in recognition of its outstanding contribution to journalism and broadcasting.
The ceremony also recognised several outstanding healthcare institutions and organisations for their commitment to quality healthcare delivery, innovation and service excellence.
However , the recognition of Otunba Wanle Akinboboye represented one of the defining moments of the evening.
