Corporate Guards Limited, a Nigerian private security company known for its emphasis on professional training and high-standard security services, is recording another significant development following a recommendation from Dufil Foods.
The recommendation follows the performance of Corporate Guards personnel deployed to Dufil Foods’ Indomie branch in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, where the security team reportedly demonstrated a level of professionalism that impressed the organisation.
According to a further report on the development, Dufil Foods had previously experienced challenges with security service providers, particularly over allegations of repeated theft involving some personnel engaged by other security companies.
The situation reportedly created frustration for the organisation and increased the need for a more dependable and professionally trained security workforce.
The report indicated that the performance of Corporate Guards personnel at the Sango-Ota location has, however, changed the organisation’s assessment of the service, with Dufil Foods said to have expressed satisfaction with the quality of personnel supplied by Corporate Guards Limited.
The development has reportedly culminated in a recommendation for 29 Corporate Guards personnel to be deployed to a Dufil Foods location in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, further expanding the company’s security responsibilities beyond its existing Sango-Ota assignment.
A Corporate Guards captain who reportedly travelled as part of a recent security sweep also disclosed that supervision had commenced around preparations for the movement and deployment of trained personnel to the new location.
The anticipated deployment is expected to involve professionally trained security officers who will be prepared for the responsibilities associated with protecting the Port Harcourt facility. While the next movement has not been officially confirmed by Otunba Wanle Akinboboye, preparations and expectations surrounding the proposed deployment have continued.
There are also expectations that the cost of security services could be reviewed to reflect the operational realities and higher cost of living associated with Port Harcourt. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding any adjustment to the service charge.
Meanwhile, there are indications that Corporate Guards captains may propose the deployment of 31 security guards instead of the 29 initially recommended, although any final number is expected to remain subject to the agreement reached with Dufil Foods and the official command from the organisation’s management.
Corporate Guards Limited forms part of Otunba Wanle Akinboboye’s broader vision of developing Africa through security, entertainment and tourism.
The company’s history dates back to the early years of his return to Nigeria from the United States, with available profiles placing its establishment in 1989, while an earlier published profile on Akinboboye states that the company’s establishment in 1992 changed perceptions about private security work in Nigeria.
What has remained consistent across accounts is the company’s stated emphasis on professionalising private security by recruiting and training educated young Nigerians rather than treating security work as a profession reserved for people with limited educational backgrounds.
Its training model has included professional security instruction through a dedicated training academy, with the broader objective of developing security personnel capable of operating to recognised professional standards.
