Today, Nigeria marks another Independence Day, a moment to remember the journey of a nation born from the hopes, sacrifices and aspirations of its people.

On October 1, 1960, Nigeria gained independence from British colonial rule, beginning a new chapter in its history. Sixty-six years later, the significance of that day remains deeply rooted in the Nigerian experience.

Nigeria has travelled a remarkable and sometimes difficult road since 1960. The country has witnessed political transitions, economic challenges, social transformations, technological growth and the emergence of Nigerians making their mark across the world.

Yet, beyond the challenges, Nigeria remains a nation of extraordinary possibilities. From the creativity of its young people to the resilience of its entrepreneurs, the brilliance of its professionals and the richness of its diverse cultures, the Nigerian story continues to be written every day.

This Independence Day is therefore both a celebration and a reminder.

The responsibility of nation-building does not belong to government alone. It belongs to citizens, institutions, businesses, communities and every Nigerian who believes that the country can become better than it is today.

As Nigeria celebrates another year of freedom, may the nation continue to move towards greater unity, justice, prosperity and peace.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.
