Long before professional security became a major concern for organisations seeking to protect their people, facilities and events, Corporate Guards Limited was already building a reputation around a different idea of security which is one rooted in training, discipline, professionalism and human relations.

Today, as the company strengthens its operations and prepares for another phase of expansion, an old recognition from the United States reminds us of the standard that once distinguished its personnel.

In June 2001, following a visit to Nigeria for the Black Heritage Festival in Badagry, the then Mayor of District Heights, Maryland, Jack Sims, commended Corporate Guards after members of the National Conference of Black Mayors delegation encountered the company’s personnel during their activities in Lagos.
The mayor described the security personnel as highly trained and educated, well-mannered and disciplined, while also recognising their professionalism, human-relations skills and ability to provide effective security without unnecessarily disrupting the environment around them.
One of the strongest observations concerned crowd management.
Rather than relying on shouting or physical contact, the guards reportedly managed crowds quietly and smoothly, demonstrating that effective security could be achieved through discipline, communication and professional conduct.
For a security company, such qualities are not merely additional advantages. They can determine how employees, visitors, executives, guests and members of the public experience an organisation.
The mayor went as far as expressing his willingness to personally recommend Corporate Guards for events and planned VIP visits in Nigeria and elsewhere, as he also described the company as representing “the future of security” and it would “set the standards.”
The company retained standard even till 2026 and continues to recruit and train personnel, with emphasis on preparing guards for professional responsibilities and maintaining supervision after deployment.

For organisations searching for security personnel, the real question is whether the guards assigned to them can represent the same professionalism expected from their own staff and brand. That is where Corporate Guards has an opportunity to reintroduce its strongest identity.
A modern security officer may be the first person a visitor encounters at a corporate facility. The officer may be responsible for access control, monitoring, crowd management, protecting people and property, responding to unusual situations and maintaining order without creating unnecessary tension. Such responsibilities require more than physical presence.

They require training, discipline, alertness, communication, courtesy, proper supervision and the ability to understand the environment in which the officer operates.
Corporate Guards’ history provides evidence that these qualities have previously been central to its approach.
Now, as the company expands its operational reach, standard organisations, corporate bodies, event organisers, institutions and establishments requiring professionally trained security personnel have an opportunity to engage the company for recruitment and security deployment.
The invitation is not simply for organisations looking for guards.
It is for organisations looking for personnel who can be trained, supervised and deployed to meet the security demands and professional expectations of their environment.
For Corporate Guards, the task ahead is therefore clear, which is to retain the standard that once attracted international commendation, with more expectations that give organisations a reason to make the call.
