With the movie Black Market, Nora Awolowo (as producer through Rixel Studios) and her team set a new Guinness World Record for the largest film screening attendance at a single location.
The Nollywood crime thriller’s premiere on September 26, 2026, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos drew over 51,000 moviegoers who stayed for the full screening.
This officially surpassed the previous record of 43,624, held since 2015 by the Filipino film Felix Manalo at the Philippine Arena.
Guinness World Records confirmed the 51,000+ figure (based on those present from start to finish); some reports noted higher overall turnout figures around 64,000.
Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay (her feature debut) and co-written with Abdul Tijani-Ahmed, the film was produced by Nora Awolowo alongside partners including Signet Ring Studios, Switch Visuals Production, and FilmOne Studios.
It stars Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Omowunmi Dada, and others, and centers on market women involved in a cross-border fuel-smuggling operation.
This followed her earlier Nollywood box-office milestone with Red Circle and marked a major large-scale achievement for the young filmmakers.
In other news, Odigbose, the highly anticipated movie blockbuster by Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye, is set to break new ground as the movie nears completion.
