When Wema Bank Visited La Campagne Tropicana
It’s been over six weeks. That’s the number of days that have gone by since the visit of staff of Wema Bank to La Campagne Tropicana Beach & Forest Resort, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, for what was planned to be a memorable retreat of learning, relaxation, and team bonding.
The weather is natural. Hence, it’s unpredictability. No one anticipated that nature would write the opening chapter of the story of Wema Bank’s visit to La Campagne Tropicana.
As the delegation arrived at the resort, dark clouds gathered. It didn’t take much time for Heaven to send down the rain. Rains fell. It rained. And rained. It rained so much; it disrupted the itinerary that had been carefully curated to highlight the finest features of the La Campagne experience. Features like Lunch at the beachfront, water sports like kayaking, amongst others.

The outdoor activities were moved off the agenda. Some of the programmes were restructured. Others were moved to the new conference hall of the resort.
The excitement which accompanied most of the visitors was, quite understandably, mixed with disappointment. All the same, it is very few who go to a beach resort expecting themselves to be confirmed to a room in the initial few hours.
La Campagne Tropicana resort staff did not surrender to the idea of letting rains dictate the whole experience.
They responded with exceptional calm. Behind-the-scenes staff members were rearranging schedules, reorganizing, and changing sites to make it still possible that people remain satisfied and comfortable at the place despite the changes in conditions. This showed one thing: the resilience of hospitality of the resort.
As the rain gradually subsided and night fell, disappointment was clearly written on the face of Wema Bank staff. This was probably not the welcome they anticipated. The silent message of disappointment of Wema Bank staff was decoded by staff members of the resort.
Day two arrived. It was time to correct every wrong misconception. All the staff of La Campagne Tropicana came together in unity to make up for the disappointment of day one.
Breakfast by the beach, was moved into the new conference hall. Wema Bank staff arrived into the hall’s atmosphere of quality cultural music performance of Atunda Entertainers.
In no time, they all danced as they treated to lovely breakfast of local and intercontinental dishes. The disappointment of day one had been washed down by the tasteful meals of breakfast.
It was time for the day two conference of the staff. Before their arrival into the hall, the staffs of La Campagne Tropicana dutifully controlled the room temperature such that none would feel too cold or too warm.
It was a master’s class at maintaining room temperature. Upon doing this, the staffs of La Campagne Tropicana gave the staffs of Wema Bank the privacy they required for their conference by exiting from the hall.
The conference sessions proceeded successfully, and conversations flowed. The hospitality of the resort’s staff, the natural serenity of the environment, the uniqueness of the African-themed experience completely the inconveniences caused by the rain on day one was erased.
The sun set to usher in the evening tides of the ocean. The sounds of the waves signified to the staff of Wema Bank it was time to dance.
Receiving feedback from his staff about the experience of Wema Bank, the Builder of La Campagne Tropicana Beach and Forest Resort decided to host Wema Bank staff to a Dinner night of Faaji (enjoyment).
First on the performance roaster for that night was Ta’asa. Ta’asa is an energetic performing artist signed under AtundaEntertainment. A music label imprint of Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye .
As the staff of Wema Bank ate, their lips danced not to the taste of the food, but to the melodious music of Ta’asaeven though the food was sumptuous. “I am enjoying the moment,” a member of Wema Bank said on tape, no chathamhouse rule.

The entertaining night continued. It was time Ara (thunder) the first female talking drummer from the east to perform. Her drum in hand, the beating of it produced sounds that raised the feet of the Wema bank staff to dance.
“This really entertaining and I am really glad to be here. I must commend the founder of the resort. It is not easy to maintain an African traditional setting like this. I’ve been to places like Osun state, Oyo State, Ekiti State, I am just impressed coming in here seeing this African setting and nature. It really amazes me and I’ll be glad to even come here more and more to spend more time”, Mahmod from Wema Bank said with joy in his heart.

Mahmod’s testimony was not the only one. “It’s been awesome. It been very great. I am looking forward to this next time” Jesey, from Wema Bank said. Speaking also to the media team of La Campagne Tropicana, Chidi who came with his family said: “Awesome experience so far. Up from the entrance down to the room. The welcome into the resort was fantastic. I had to learn a new way of greeting. I am enjoying myself”.
